Most irrigation problems on shore properties are zoning problems. Turf, beds and containers want completely different amounts of water at completely different intervals, and putting them on one zone guarantees that something is always wrong.
Sandy soil wants shorter, more frequent cycles than the default settings on most controllers, because water applied faster than the soil can absorb it simply runs past the root zone.

Common questions
Why is my system watering every day?
It is probably on a default schedule. Sand needs short frequent cycles, but daily light watering on turf makes shallow roots.
Is drip worth it for beds?
On sand, very much. It puts water at the root rather than into the air, and it does not wet foliage.
Do I really need a winter blowout?
Yes. Water left in a line at the shore will freeze, and the repair costs many times the blowout.
